 "My Dear Rotarians and Friends,

We'd appreciate it if you can help us finish raising money for the Sam Owori Memorial Clean Water Project in Uganda. We need to raise about $40-$50,000 more to reach the goal of $167,780.

Rotary Foundation Global Grant 18-66760 provides communities with clean water and improves sanitation and health by providing 10 new boreholes for community health facilities, 10 rainwater harvesting tanks, and 10 school sanitation facilities. The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) skills needed such as hand washing and hygiene training will support Maternal and Newborn Children at the health facilities. A needs assessment was done in 2017. Affected communities indicated that a lack of clean water and access to basic sanitation is their main problem. The funding goal is $167,780."

This campaign funds water projects in Uganda. Global Grant request set forth below is one of a series of Global Grants being managed  by Walter Hughes of Rocky Mount Rotary Club-He has already brought water to 300,000 people in northern Ghana. Walter has been organizing these projects for over ten years. He  says

. :

"There's three precious moments in providing clean water.  First, the people cheer the day that the drill rig hits water.  Second, the second precious moment occurs when the kids hear and see the water flow up the pipe for the first time.  The families know that they'll have water to drink.  Third, the third precious moment happens over time when the children are laughing, playing and going to school instead of being sick of water borne diseases.  Thanks for helping to give the gift of clean water."

Please contribute to help bring clean water and improve sanitation in the Upper East Region of Ghana.

Please note that Walter Hughes and District 7570 are continually seeking Foundation Global Grants and responding to short term high priority projects. Funds may be left over from use in a particular project , Those funds may be applied to enlarge a project or to fill a related project need without additional requests.
